Measuring for new vertical blind slats is easy. All you will require is a tape measure and a pen or pencil to make a note of the sizes.
- Firstly count the number of slats you have on your existing blind and make a note of this.
- Your existing slats will either be 89mm (3½”) wide or 127mm (5”) wide. It is important that you use
the same size of slats that your blind is setup for. If you use the wrong size slats the overlap between
each slat will be wrong and it will interfere with the operation of the blind.
- Measure the slats from the top of the fabric right down to the bottom of the fabric. Do not
include the hanger in the top of the fabric. The web site uses centimetres so it best to
measure your slats in centimetres to avoid errors trying to convert measurements. Make a
note of this size.
- If you visit www.devonshireblinds.co.uk and select a fabric you are interested in you can
enter your sizes into the web site to obtain a price for your requirements.
All our slats come complete with new hangers sewn into the top of slat so they are ready to hang
when they arrive. We also include new white stabilising chain for along the bottom of the slats free
of charge with all orders. When ordering your new slats you can also request new weights for in
the base of your slats or you can use your existing ones from your current slats.

Useful Measuring Tips and Tricks
- Measuring with a retractable steel tape measure is the easiest and most accurate way of
measuring your slats.
- When measuring many people find it easier to unhook one of the slats from the head rail
and lay it down on a work top or table. This saves having the stretch awkwardly when trying
to measure and will improve accuracy.
- Always measure a slat from each window don’t assume they will be the same size.
- Watching the measuring and fitting videos on the web site provides an easy to follow guide
on how to re-slat your blind and show how easy it is to achieve. A pictures really is worth a
thousand words.
