Customer guide to our services during the COVID-19 global pandemic and how we will work to keep everyone safe

As a local family firm the safety of our staff and customers is of paramount importance which means that we have been forced to introduce a number of new measures and ways of working to meet the government guidelines. To keep everyone safe during these unprecedented times we will need your help by working with us to follow these new ways of working.

Initially we will have had to reduce the number of appointments we have each day as we learn to work under these new guidelines, whilst we appreciate this might make it trickier to find a slot, this is for everyone’s safety and we hope with many now able to work from home that this will allow for a degree of flexibility.

Our appointments will be with 1 member of staff and we ask that where possible, only 1 member of the household is present for your home appointment to reduce risk.

How can I book an appointment?

  • The Government guidelines published May 11th state that a business should find digital or remote alternatives to in-home work where possible, that’s why we are introducing initial virtual consultations using Google DUO. This will offer a chance for us to meet face to face online, discuss your requirements and show us your windows from the safety of your own home initially. Google DUO can be used by android and iOS users without installing a new app on your phone. Please call us to arrange your virtual consultation.

  • If a virtual consultation is not available we would encourage people to contact us via e-mail or book a phone consultation so we can assess your needs and how we can help you.

  • We also ask that where possible, customers can provide us with estimated sizes of their windows. This will allow us to give you an estimate of the costs without the risk associated with a home visit.

  • We will be providing a free postal sample service to allow you to safely see samples within your own home.

  • At this time during the global pandemic, we encourage customers to be in a position to proceed with an order and only have us visit their home when necessary to reduce exposure and risk for both yourself and our staff.


Who cannot book an appointment?

We will not be able to provide a home appointment for anyone that is:

  • Classed as being ‘at risk or vulnerable’

  • Anyone self isolating or social shielding.

  • Anyone who has shown symptoms of coronavirus within the last 14 days or where any member of their household has shown symptoms within the last 14 days.

  • Anyone who has travelled outside of the UK and returned within the last 14 days.


How will we work safely during a home measuring appointment?

  • We will call you when we are on our way so you know to expect us.

  • We ask that customers remove any items from window sills and that windows are easy to access with any furniture or obstructions moved so that we do not have to touch unnecessary items within your home.

  • We will sanitise our hands before and after each visit.

  • It is critical to maintain 2 meters social distancing at all times.

  • When we arrive we will introduce ourselves and ask that you retreat back into your home to make room for us to enter whilst maintaining at least 2 meters distance.

  • When we are measuring please keep the furthest distance possible from our staff member. If the room will not allow 2 meters distance to be maintained then please vacate the room and leave our staff member to work safely.

  • Once we have completed our measure we will email your quotation to you so we are not exchanging items.

Can I look at and touch samples at home?

  • Unfortunately it is impossible to thoroughly clean and disinfect fabric samples without damaging them therefore we will not have our normal full fabric samples, however by introducing our virtual consultations we are hoping to have a clearer understanding of your preferred products and requirements before visiting your home.

  • We will offer people a free postal sample service which to allow you to have your own samples and we will carry limited pre-packed samples of our most popular ranges. This will remove the risk associated with bringing samples into your home which have been handled and moved between multiple households and people.

  • We will also have a sampling service available from our shop/workshop in Thornton and if required customers can make an appointment to view more samples. Due to social distancing rules customer numbers in the shop are extremely limited so booking an appointment is strongly advised to prevent potentially long waits.


How long will my order take to be manufactured?

  • Both our manufacturing teams and our manufacturing partners who we work closely with are experiencing considerable disruptions which will affect lead times.

  • We will provide estimated lead times but with the volatility of the current situation delays may happen and we ask for your understanding during this unprecedented situation. Please be assured that we will do our best to complete orders as quickly and safely as possible and that we will do our best to keep customers informed of any delays as best we can.

  • As our products are made to measure, we unfortunately cannot provide deposit refunds for cancelled orders due to these extensions.


Returning to install your blinds

  • We will continue to provide our installation services, following government guidelines and safety procedures.

  • We will call you when we are on our way to your appointment so you know to expect us.

  • We ask that customers remove all items from window sills and that the windows are easy to access with any furniture or obstructions moved so that we do not have to touch unnecessary items within your home.

  • The first and ideal option for an installation would be for customers to leave their home to take exercise whilst an installation is carried out. This will allow us free movement throughout the property as required without worrying about maintaining a 2m social distance.

  • Where this isn’t possible, we will request that customers stay in separate rooms to where an installation is taking place.

  • We will sanitize our hands before, during and after your installation.

  • We will open windows in rooms where possible to ventilate the space.

  • We will remove everything that we bring into a property (excluding the product we have installed and any essential items such as remote controls or instructions) to prevent potential infection risks. This also means that we will not be able to remove anything that was already at the property such as old blinds.
